Alectryon subcinereus fruit

Aftermath of south coast bushfires meant we have lost two of these trees.
Fortunately, I have another growing somewhere else and that small individual will be donated to local Noel Butler for re planting in creek/wet marginal area
Hardy tree, maybe up to 3metres, bird attracting for fruit , especially bower birds.
Fruits are small but quite tasty, if you can get before birds.
fruit capsule, green to purple, the opening to red seeds, the edible part. Again birds get in first.
